About the Role:
The OPIS Carbon Markets team collects and analyzes carbon credit trade data to produce daily price assessments and uncovers and reports on activity across the entire scope of the market. In this role you will focus on the Voluntary Carbon Market. You will assess the price of carbon offsets credits, write spot and feature news on pricing, market fundamentals, and the evolving industry for publication in the OPIS Global Carbon Offsets Report. Your work will contribute to OPIS’ reputation as a leading price reporting and news agency, providing transparent price assessments and real-time news and analysis for energy commodities and carbon credits markets. OPIS' price-discovery methodologies are in accordance with IOSCO (International Organization of Securities Commissions) Principles for Oil Price Reporting Agencies and with European Union Benchmark Regulation (BMR). You will report to the OPIS Carbon Markets Director.

You Will:
Collect and analyze daily carbon credit offsets price data from industry participants
Verify the legitimacy of market transactions and adhere to our pricing methodology to create daily price assessments
Generate breaking and feature news alerts on carbon markets, corporate and jurisdictional sustainability initiatives, and the climate standards and regulatory measures that impact pricing
Research and report on new developments in carbon offsetting standards and global initiatives
Contribute to social media content, blog posts, OPIS carbon events and webinars and Dow Jones reports
Network and develop sources in the carbon industry
You Have:
3-4 years’ journalism or market analysis experience
Knowledge of the Voluntary Carbon Market and/or cap-and-trade markets
Ability to quickly analyze pricing data, spot market drivers, and canvas sources to find answers
Covered emissions reduction markets, like the Voluntary Carbon Market, from a pricing perspective (preferred)
Understanding of the trading landscape from climate project developers to corporate net-zero strategies (preferred)
Well-developed news sense and demonstrated ability to write about complex topics clearly and succinctly
Demonstrated success of producing robust copy under tight deadlines
Experience with source development and market engagement
Willingness to cross-train to cover other carbon markets in a back-up capacity
Bachelor’s degree -OR- equivalent work experience
