The OPIS Cloud Operations team supports OPIS by ensuring the overall operational performance, security, and reliability of OPIS' cloud environments. The team works closely with the OPIS Product development teams with a focus on high availability and continuous operation, resource allocation and monitoring, compliance, and financial management. It provides guidance, defines guardrails and ensures compliance with corporate, business unit, as well as industry, best practices and standards. The team is responsible for the configuration, management and monitoring of the operational infrastructure of the OPIS cloud environments including networking, identity/access management and systems that provide backbone functionality for OPIS applications.

About the Role:

As an experienced and solution-oriented Lead Cloud Engineer you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the architecture, deployment, and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure and the day-to-day operations of our cloud-based systems with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, and security as well as work with our product teams to provide timely, effective and performant solutions. To fit this role, we are looking for that unique mix of solid technical capabilities, blended with strong interpersonal skills. This role will report to the Executive Director of Cloud Operations. This is a remote role.

You Will:

  • Design, implement, and maintain our cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, high availability, fault tolerance, cost efficiency, and adherence to best practices

  • Collaborate with product teams to leverage our cloud infrastructure (AWS) in order to design optimal solutions, support the development and deployment of new systems and products as well as execute system upgrades and security patches

  • Drive initiatives to optimize cloud resources to maximize performance while minimizing costs, reduce manual intervention, and improve reliability

  • Focus on Information Security to align on and implement robust security measures and best practices to safeguard our cloud environments against cyber threats

  • Monitor system health, diagnose and resolve technical issues, and establish proactive monitoring systems and protocols to detect and address issues promptly

  • Lead incident response efforts, conduct post-incident analysis, and implement preventive measures to minimize future occurrences

  • Provide advanced technical support and offer timely and effective solutions to complex challenges

  • Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies, plans and procedures.

  • Manage a secure and rigorous change control process around the infrastructure

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures using Atlassian Confluence, Azure DevOps and Github

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement

You Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related technical field

  • 4 or more years hands-on cloud engineering, cloud operations, infrastructure management, or related roles, experience

  • Expert proven expertise with the AWS cloud platform, including proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform. Proficiency with additional cloud platforms, such as Azure, or GCP, a plus.

  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, cloud security best practices, network architecture, and data protection principles

  • Strong proven experience administrating Linux and Windows Server operating systems

  • Expertise in automation, scripting, and configuration management/monitoring tools

  • A drive to improve existing infrastructure and processes without compromising on reliability, scalability, or security

We'd also love to hear about your experiences with any of the following:

  • Degrees, Certifications (AWS Certified Practitioner, Microsoft/Azure, or equivalent certifications), and/or awards/recognition that you have achieved

  • Programming and Automation Experience (Shell Scripting, PowerShell, Python, etc.)

  • Experience working with scripts under source control (Git/TFVC/Mercurial/Svn/etc)

  • Experience being part of a continuous integration and deployment process

  • Experience with Confluence

  • Knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodology and/or SCRUM
