Job Description:

The Role: Junior Events Manager

The Team: The events team is responsible for developing, planning, and executing paid global events on time and on budget while providing a best-in-class client experience for our live events. The events team runs most effectively and efficiently when teammates work collaboratively and are aligned by a common goal. We strive to have open minded discussions including a can-do attitude to accomplish our goals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide operational and logistical support to the OPIS and Chemical Market Analytics events team to ensure effective and successful planning and delivery of live events

  • Responsibilities include, but not limited to venue and third-party vendor management, registration, décor, housing, transportation, audio visual, floorplan and room sets, F&B, giveaways, signage, sponsorship deliverables, and other event related logistics as required.

  • Create key timelines and support project scopes, including critical path, event playbooks, and quality assurance

  • Monitor events expenses, including the creation of purchase orders, invoicing, and payment management

  • Grow to become the in-house product specialist for event tools and platforms used by the events team

  • Build strong working relationships across the organization to move projects forward quickly & effectively

  • Support contract negotiation and manage vendor relationships

  • 25% domestic and/or international travel required to assist with the on-site execution and breakdown of events

  • Assume additional responsibilities as necessary for the continued growth of the team

Skills and knowledge you should possess:

  • 3-5 years of corporate event experience (internal or external) for mid-size to large events.

  • A good understanding of MS Office, Google applications, JIRA ticketing, Risk and Third-Party onboarding, SAP and data analytics is advantageous

  • Working knowledge of event management tools and platforms i.e., Cvent – Flex, Attendee Hub and On Arrival, Aventri and Bizzabo

  • Strong project, expense, and time management skills

  • Experience negotiating and building partnerships with third-party vendors

  • Consistent ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects with an optimistic attitude while keeping priorities in order

  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, shifting priorities and the occasional abrupt change

  • Proven track record collaborating effectively with all levels of stakeholder across a company

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • May be required to move materials weighing up to 15-30 pounds

  • Capacity and willingness to invest longer hours during peak event seasons
