Your Role
Are you an analytical thinker and passionate about problem solving?
Currently OPIS is looking to expand its Romanian team based in Bucharest. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing team that will become an important part of global OPIS IT.
OPIS is one of the world's most comprehensive sources for petroleum pricing and news information. OPIS provides real-time and historical spot, wholesale/rack and retail fuel prices for the refined products, renewable fuels, and natural gas and gas liquids (LPG) industries. At its core, OPIS uses a set of complex IT systems and tools, handling huge amounts of data in a reliable way, and providing customers with business applications to use this data as efficient as possible.
Responsibilities:
Operating System Maintenance of Debian Linux Server
Software and Hardware troubleshooting (Debian Linux - Environment)
Network troubleshooting and problem solving
Server management, installing, maintenance and upgrades
Managing software deployments
Monitoring the systems and the applications, performance analysis
High-availability and redundant systems
Feature automation through scripting
On call availability during night hours on a rotational basis
Your Expertise
You have:
previous experience in server administration or tech support
good knowledge of the Linux operating systems (if it's Debian, even better)
intermediate Knowledge of MySQL and InnoDB
good understanding of the Apache web server, SSL and various configuration scenarios
knowledge of how a network works, what IP is and commonly used communication protocols and related software is something you can easily understand
good understanding of how netfilter works and you are able to build a basic firewall
the ability to debug and troubleshoot various problems
knowledge of intrusion detection/prevention techniques
strong attention to details
organization skills and you are a team player
good English knowledge, both written and spoken
It’s a bonus if you also have:
good understanding of the concepts of “high availability”
experience with Big Data technologies, including setting up and running Hadoop clusters
the ability to understand code written in Python or PHP
knowledge about regular expressions
knowledge of what is what when it comes to hardware
French or Romanian knowledge
