OPIS provides real-time and historical spot, wholesale/rack and retail fuel prices for the refined products, renewable fuels, and natural gas and gas liquids (LPG) industries. At its core, OPIS uses a set of complex IT systems and tools, handling huge amounts of data in a reliable way, and providing customers with business applications to use this data as efficient as possible.
Sr. Software Engineer
This person will design, develop and maintain internal and third party software solutions, delivering excellent products in-scope and on-time. They will participate in a team of motivated, driven, high-energy developers, building trust and confidence with team members and business stakeholders. We are seeking someone with a desire to learn and grow in new technologies and techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities
Write, build, and modify code successfully
Analyze business application requirements to identify concerns and develop action plans
Configure/integrate web-based applications with RESTful services and third-party libraries (ie. Nswag, npm packages, etc.)
Design and implement solutions for tasks and projects
Develop fast, well-architected, clean/readable, and reuseable enterprise-level front-end code leveraging appropriate design patterns and best practices (ie. hooks, reducers, compound components, routing, etc.)
Provide project and task estimates
Implement code changes isolated to large systems maintained by dedicated project teams
Implement automated unit tests to prevent front-end regression (ie. Jasmine, Karma, etc.)
Ensure current and accurate system documentation
Coordinate and perform testing of system modifications, verifying that testing is completed, documented, and changes implemented
Maintain existing legacy applications
Required Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:
Working knowledge of unit testing development practices and frameworks
Bachelors Degree in computer science or related technical field, or equivalent experience
3-5 years’ experience
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
Experience with SDLC
Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Understand OOP principles
Must be analytical, have problem-solving skills and be intellectually curious
Organized and attentive to details
Preferred Skills:
Experience with iterative Agile development methodologies
Experience with Transact SQL, preferably SQL Server
Experience with C#/.NET, ASP MVC/.NET
Knowledge of front-end development using any of the following; HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, Single Page Applications
Experience building and shipping software for multiple platforms
