We are seeking an experienced and solution-oriented Senior Database Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, your duties will include, but are not limited to: working with our product teams to provide timely, effective and performant solutions; contributing to the design of scalable data solutions, including the development of automated ETL pipelines; implementing and/or maintaining database systems to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our application suite.
Work closely with product teams and business representatives, in an agile environment, to implement effective solutions to stated needs, requirements and user stories
Maintain existing applications and troubleshoot
Excellent knowledge of database architecture, design principles, and procedures
Excellent knowledge of SQL Server database performance tuning
Identify and promote process improvements related to database maintenance and data management
You will be working in the Dow Jones Team. Dow Jones is one of the world's most comprehensive sources for petroleum pricing and news information. Dow Jones provides real-time and historical spot, wholesale/rack and retail fuel prices for the refined products, renewable fuels, and natural gas and gas liquids (LPG) industries. At its core, Dow Jones uses a set of complex IT systems and tools, handling huge amounts of data in a reliable way, and providing customers with business applications to use this data as efficient as possible.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
4+ years of hands-on database development experience
Designed and developed modern, scalable, maintainable databases and data services
Strong knowledge of T-SQL, including troubleshooting and performance tuning
Experience designing and developing ETL and data-management solutions
Strong conceptual and creative problem-solving skills
IT’S A BONUS IF YOU ALSO HAVE
Experience working with Agile/SCRUM teams
Experience creating CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps
Experience working with AWS services (S3, Lambda, etc.) and NoSQL databases
Experience working with source control tools
Experience with load/stress/performance-testing, and database monitoring tools
A continuous learner with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
A team player, able to work with multiple teams, while also working independently
A strong communicator, whether written or oral
Driven to produce quality work in a timely manner
Able to work with considerable ambiguity; learning new and complex concepts quickly
