Dow Jones Manager, Sanctions & Other Official Lists, Data Strategy in Shanghai, China

Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage a team of Data Analysts by communicating team objectives and goals, monitoring and evaluating performance, and allocating available resources.

  • Supervise, support, and develop the team to maximize potential through motivation, coaching, counseling, and delegation.

  • Provide regular and transparent communication across the team regarding their performance to ensure team and company goals are met.

  • Collaborate and engage with other departments and be a knowledgeable and trustworthy business partner with stakeholders.

  • Lead team to achieve Risk & Compliance’s stringent output/quality/timeliness targets for the lists content.

  • Oversee allocation of responsibilities across the team of Data Analysts to deliver the most comprehensive, accurate, up-to-date and thorough coverage possible to meet client expectations.

  • Ensure the team meets the tight schedule of delivering lists updates and new lists content to clients, working not only with their team but also managers in other locations

  • Must be proficient at analysing lists, monitoring and processing large volumes of data

  • Responsible for recruitment, defining goals, key performance indicators (KPI), staff performance management, developing team members and maximizing career opportunities for key personnel

  • Support and contribute to team goals of maximizing efficiency via automation and workflow enhancements working as appropriate with key stakeholders in the R&C team, Strategic Services and Technology

  • Responsible, working alongside the Lists Quality team, for verifying the accuracy of material the team adds to the database and for performing regular quality checks on Special Lists records.

  • Support the Director in identifying and dealing with quality issues

  • Respond to client/sales queries promptly and thoroughly

Skills & Experience

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Experience managing a team is an advantage

  • Understanding of Risk & Compliance, its structure, content and methodology is an advantage

  • Fluency in English and Chinese required. Proficiency in other major languages is an advantage

  • Ability to determine and juggle priorities

  • Ability to manage a team with a focus on quality and quantity metrics

  • Strong customer focus and experience handling complex client queries

  • Strong presentation and communication skills (both internally and externally)

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent keyboard skills and Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel

  • Ability to conceptualise information systems and user interfaces

  • Ability to adapt readily to changing customer expectations and allocate resources appropriately

  • Ability to take ownership of issues

  • Ability to coordinate appropriate internal resources
