Dow Jones is looking for a Language Editor to lead the company’s push into the Korean-language market. You will work in the WSJ newsroom, using advanced AI tools to provide top quality autotranslation of WSJ and Dow Jones Newswires content into Korean. You will be responsible for writing and refining Gen AI prompts, building glossaries and alternating and testing new LLM models to ensure the most accurate and fluent translation, while managing the quality control process for our 1,000-story a day service.. You will work closely with senior editors at Newswires and the WSJ to identify new content that resonates with the Korean-language audience, and act as the senior-most, in-country editorial point person for the company’s new initiatives, opportunities and partnerships with Korean-language content. You will collaborate with business and technology experts inside and outside the company.
The role requires fluency in English and Korean and strong command of financial and business terminology. Proven experience in working with a range of AI tools is crucial.
You Will:
Lead various projects to improve Korean-language content
Work with business and technology experts in and out of the company to explore new ways to further expand Korean-language content, including working with new technology and publishing platforms
Set the standards in quality and fluency of Korean translation, and manage a quality control process
Review and edit news articles translated into Korean
You Have:
Previous work experience in journalism or f inancial news editing
Proven experience as an English-to-Korean translator or language expert , with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
Practical experience with the nascent technology of Gen AI-generated autotranslation, including working knowledge with various leading Gen AI LLM models
Comprehensive knowledge of finance, markets and business news with a good understanding of our audiences’ interests
Organizational skills and an ability to prioritize your work
Excellent communication skills to work with a wide range of internal and external teams
The position will be based in South Korea or other locations in Asia. Other locations will be considered under the right circumstances, and will report to the Operations and Languages Editor, Asia.
