Global Finance Operations
The Global Finance Operations (GFO) team is an organization established within Dow Jones to support the global finance operations of Dow Jones, as well as shared services for NewsCorp HQ and other NewsCorp Companies. GFO provides value by developing and delivering a suite of business solutions and support services that are valued by our internal and external customers. Direct and lead Dow Jones payables teams including: Accounts Payable, Procure to Pay, Travel & Entertainment, and Payroll. Providing leadership and direction for the team, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency in disbursements; while adding value to organization through analysis and review. Ensure payable/travel activities are in line with overall goals/strategy and policy of the company.
Facilitate and lead cross-functional teams with key business partners/principals to develop effective cost reduction strategies, implementation plans and achieve the optimal service levels.. Position has insight to helping define and mold guidance regarding policies and procedures and affecting behavioral changes in spend. Continuous analysis and review of processes, data, procedures and issues to help identify, and affect change, streamline processes and improvements.
Manage growing shared services business for other NewsCorp companies through partnering with internal customers and striving for continuous improvement. Building and leading growth through scalable and repeatable processes and enhancements.
Roles and Responsibilities/skills:
Responsible for over $1 Billion in payments made annually; over 200k invoices processed, in 34 currencies, 47 business units and 15k suppliers/vendors.
Responsible for overseeing the travel team which handles over 50k reports, upwards of $30M in expenses annually in 28 countries
Responsible for overseeing the regional Payroll teams; for a multitude of separate legal entities, currencies, countries and shared services
Manage related vendor relationships within payable team
Team of approx. 5-6 direct reports; approx. over 40 global staff
Ensure business partners/principals understand their accountabilities in this process.
Key is optimizing process, implementing change and managing associated risk
Minimum 15 years of experience in Accounts Payable, Information Systems and/or Finance preferred.
SAP, Open Text & Concur experience a definite plus
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously; results focused
Ability to effectively persuade/influence others and interface well with all levels of management required, internally and externally; ability to lead and transform.
Demonstrated leadership and results in Project Management, experience in various aspects of finance affecting Dow Jones Affiliates globally, team facilitation, problem solving skills, and excellent written and oral presentation skills required.
Demonstrates strong analytical skill required for strategic decision-making as it relates to category management.
Experience with vendor relationship management
Must be high energy and able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads that can be variable for long periods of time. Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
Align communications strategy to keep business partners informed of progress/benefits relating to strategic projects and initiatives, and update payables collateral with key best practices in the industry; measure and track performance relating spending, and define budgetary impact.
Provide professional developmental opportunities for staff and a collaborative work environment. Develop succession plans for key managerial positions. Collaborate with the People team and other key departments in the development and implementation of other programs as required.
Advanced conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage challenging expectations effectively and resolve conflicts efficiently.
Four-year college degree in business or technical area or equivalent business experience.
M.B.A., legal certification, and/or C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager) is desirable.
