Dow Jones Regional Sales Director, Risk & Compliance in PRINCETON, New Jersey

Job Description:

Dow Jones Risk & Compliance is a high growth business unit within Dow Jones. The Dow Jones Risk & Compliance business helps financial institutions and corporate customers meet international Anti Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Corruption regulations, enabling them to consider their clients and partners as an opportunity for growth rather than a legal or reputation threat.

The AML, KYC and Anti-Corruption segment of the information market is now one of the fastest-growing and mission critical areas in the information business. In recent years the Dow Jones Watchlist (formerly Factiva Public Figures & Associates) product has enjoyed significant growth and we are now pursuing a variety of new initiatives to build on this success and expand our position in the risk & compliance space.

As part of our investment plan we are seeking an exceptional person to lead the Risk & Compliance Sales Specialist team in the Americas.

This challenging new role will lead our sales operation and also manage relationships with key stakeholders such as the Global Sales Organization within Dow Jones.

The role requires close coordination with the Risk & Compliance’s Global Sales Director as well as Regional Sales Managers in the Americas.

The role’s primary responsibility will be to lead all aspects of our customer engagement and to be a key leader of our product, marketing and business development strategy

Position Summary Statement:

  • Lead and monitor the Americas Risk & Compliance sales specialist team including recruiting, performance management, coaching, training, forecasting, and creating territory development planning in order to ensure accomplishment of revenue objectives.

  • Work with the account teams to devise and implement territory business plans in order to identify growth opportunities and retain business.

  • Implement strategies to meet and exceed sales and revenue objectives, such as identifying new territory management methods, identifying sales opportunities and trends, and devising innovative ways to generate sales leads.

  • Analyze sales/financial reports, pipeline reports and sales activities to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting..

  • Participate in selected sales calls and industry events including speaking opportunities in the key Americas markets that Dow Jones Risk & Compliance serves.

  • Working closely with the market intelligence team, monitor potential market opportunities and competitors to ensure we are maximizing revenue and selling against competitors.

  • Work with management and product teams to develop pricing models for all relevant products

Key relationships internally and externally:

  • Work effectively across the Dow Jones organization, managing key relationships to ensure that business objectives are achieved;

These include:

  • Senior Dow Jones Management Team: To report on business performance and also secure new resources for product investment and acquisitions.

  • Finance: To ensure close management of budgets and investment plans as well as forecasting responsibilities

  • Marketing: Work closely with marketing management to ensure that events, PR, branding and communication supports sales objectives and execution plans.

  • Human Resources: to ensure a coordinated approach to recruitment and induction of new employees; to identify and capitalize on learning and development opportunities; to assist with performance management;

  • Business Intelligence: Assist with competitive intelligence activities and develop programs and campaigns aimed at specific competitors and/or market threats;

  • Editorial and Product Groups: to facilitate a feedback mechanism for sales in the development and support product strategies.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

  • Minimum 10 years sales and/or sales management experience with a proven track record of selling information and/or technology related products or services.

  • A leader who is able to inspire and motivate a culturally diverse sales team.

  • Flexibility to undertake regular travel and working hours to accommodate international time zones and work commitments.

  • Good understanding of Internet & search technologies and a knowledge of AML platforms would be an advantage.

  • Positive, goal oriented with demonstrated initiative and high energy levels.

  • Outstanding communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated capability to inspire and lead.

  • Ability to take ownership of problems and coordinate appropriate internal resources to help solve issues effectively and efficiently.

    • Degree level education and/or MBA equivalent.
