Dow Jones Technology is looking for an experienced Portfolio Manager that is responsible for managing the capital finances, both projects and portfolios, and assist with the operating expense budget within the Dow Jones Technology group. The Manager will support the senior leadership team in aligning and executing against its financial targets. The Manager may assist and coach other program managers. He/she will Influence stakeholders to follow standard practices and procedures to ensure financial governance. He/she needs to be able to dive into the details and provide guidance to the team – sometimes hands-on – needs to be able to identify and manage issues proactively, and mitigate risks among teams and with upper management.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight on the Technology capital program

  • Ensure requests are submitted on time with excellent quality

  • Track capital authorizations and any mid year budget adjustments to proper funding per project

  • Oversee monthly forecasting by portfolio is completed and is compliant with internal labor and consulting targets

  • Assist Portfolio Managers on forecasting tips and tricks where needed

  • Communicate capital asks to senior leadership to prep them for meetings

  • Work closely with Finance to understand and document any risks

  • Assist in Operating Expense budget outlook process

  • Tracking consultant SOWs, POs, invoices and forecasts

  • Tight controls and understanding of Internal Labor costs

  • Proactively identify, manage and resolve issues and risks

  • Provide insight into portfolios via analysis and reporting

  • Provide clear and thorough verbal and written communications to stakeholders

  • Identify areas of process improvement

Position Requirements:

· 10+ years portfolio management experience managing the financial aspects of projects as well as department budgets

· Bachelor’s degree

· Effective team player with exceptional organizational and communication skills

· Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including the ability to present quantitative and qualitative information clearly and insightfully (e.g. dashboards and analysis

· Ability to influence and train peers as well as senior leadership

· Ideal candidate is a self-starter, confident, energetic, positive, focused, dependable, adaptable, proactive, resourceful and possesses a “can do” attitude

· Ability to work well under timeframe pressure, handling multiple tasks at the same time and posting colleagues on progress regularly
