About the Role

You will assist the Global Controller in addressing our accounting policy matters, perform technical accounting research, implement new accounting standards and help ensure the integrity of our financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, UK GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). You will report to the Vice President, FMA in our New Jersey office.

You Will:

  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, UK GAAP and IFRS for leading and local ledgers.

  • Perform technical accounting research on a wide variety of business transactions and document conclusions in accounting position papers.

  • Interpret and implement new accounting standards and updates (US GAAP, UK GAAP and IFRS).

  • Lead the implementation of new accounting standards issued from the FASB, EITF, SEC, IASB, FRC and other accounting standard setters.

  • Provide technical accounting support for Finance management and other corporate functions such as Treasury, Tax, Management Accounting, Finance Operations, Internal Audit, Financial Planning & Analysis, Compliance and Business operating teams.

  • Write and compile corporate accounting policies.

  • Assist in the SEC / external reporting process by reviewing certain footnotes and gathering supporting documentation for News Corp HQ.

  • Work directly with internal and external auditors to provide analyses and support for audit reviews.

  • Support annual impairment testing process.

  • Be the point person for the accounting research related to potential M&A activity.

  • Review contracts and agreements for accounting implications and potential issues.

  • Be responsible for the identification, maintenance and communication of all current and upcoming accounting pronouncements as it relates to our financial statements; additionally provide recommendations or remedies.

  • Help with News Corporation requests.

  • Handle other special projects and ad hoc analyses as required.

You Have:

  • Minimum BA/BS in Accounting and are a CPA or CMA. MBA is desirable but not required.

  • A Public Accounting background (Big 4 firm preferred or other national firm).

  • Minimum 12 years relevant experience preferably in a corporate finance organization with experience in Accounting Policy, External Reporting or Corporate Consolidations/ Internal Reporting.

  • In-depth knowledge of Financial Accounting Standards, US GAAP, UK GAAP and IFRS.

  • A strong Accounting Technician skills; able to decipher complex accounting standards and properly apply them to various business transactions.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate risk and program value in business terms that can be clearly understood at all levels of the organization.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications

  • SAP S/4 Hana experience preferred.

Pay Range: $145,000 - $180,000
