The Role:
Barron’s is seeking an experienced technical analyst who can draw out insights from market moves and enhance Barron’s stock-picking franchise. Barron’s is known for its stock picks, and many readers desire to go deeper than our recommendations. We are searching for a writer who can offer sharp perspective that technical analysis offers, especially in a financial climate with boundless opportunity for bad decision-making. This technical stock analyst will help identify long-term investing ideas and offer shorter-term trading advice, including on when to enter positions and when to take profits. This writer should also be able to write quickly in response to market and stock moves for investors who are wondering what they should—or shouldn’t do—in a more volatile market, while providing actionable takeaways. The technical analyst will be asked to provide updates on past stock picks at regular intervals and produce alerts based on news events impacting the stock. You will be a part of a team of writers, and report to The Barron’s Investing Club Managing Editor.
The role will be based in New York, though other locations will be considered on merit.
You Will:
Write accessible, reader-friendly stories on a daily basis, and also craft longer features, both anticipating and analyzing market trends.
Work well under pressure and with other members of the team
Be the go-to market technician in the Barron’s newsroom
Pitch creative and compelling story ideas
Be responsive to the community in a timely fashion
Closely follow markets to determine which stocks may be of particular interest based on news, and which may be missed by Wall Street and readers
Collaborate with colleagues and other departments
Write jargon-free, clear financial prose to accompany technical charts and terms
You Have:
Proven ability to perform rigorous technical analysis of stocks in an idea pipeline
Closely follow movement of previous stock picks and provide ongoing updates per scheduled intervals and special alerts
Collaborate with colleagues and other departments to perform research, brainstorm on ideas and receive feedback
Experience writing technical analysis of stocks
Top-notch news and investing judgment
Ability to gracefully juggle multiple stories a day, reacting in a timely way to breaking news that impacts investors
