In the Trump administration, Musk has played a key role in cutting the government workforce, even as his companies contract with and are regulated by US agencies.
MarketWatch seeks an ambitious reporter to join its technology team to cover Elon Musk and the technological innovation that is impacting markets and the economy. It’s a chance to write about rockets, robotaxis and robots. You will report to Assistant Managing Editor, Tech.
The role will be based in New York, though other locations will be considered on merit.
You Will:
Cover the business interests of Elon Musk including Tesla, SpaceX, X, Neuralink, xAI, and The Boring Company
Keep on top of developments in several sectors and providing fast-paced analysis on their importance
Be a skilled, insightful and compassionate interviewer
Craft sharp and memorable headlines
Cover relevant corporate earnings
Write jargon-free, clear financial prose
Be meticulous in your copy and ambitious in your reporting
Write enterprise articles and collaborate with other MarketWatch teams, including our Washington bureau
You Have:
Three to six years’ experience writing on consumer-related platforms
Fluency in financial markets and technology
Deep interest in the electric vehicles markets
Pitched creative and compelling story ideas
A track record of writing unique, engaging stories
Found unique angles off the news and produced distinctive coverage on a competitive beat
Facilitated SEO and audience strategies
Experience juggling multiple stories a day
Bachelor’s degree -OR- equivalent work experience
