Dow Jones Sr. Director, Data Analytics, Digital Media in NEW YORK, New York

Job Description:

Dow Jones is looking for a Sr. Director, Data Analytics, Digital Media for our New Business Ventures team, who can use their expertise in digital news and media, qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and data analysis to support data-driven storytelling and achieve strategic insights. You will support both the New Business Ventures organization and provide business intelligence for our Partnerships and Audio/Video functions. You will lead a team to advise on industry trends and partner with senior leadership to guide the direction of decisions and performance to guide business goals in the right direction.


  • Define strategy and manage a long-term vision and portfolio of projects to improve results through creating world-class metrics, analysis, visualizations, and data-driven storytelling

  • Lead a team to capture and present regular performance analyses and optimization recommendations for New Business Ventures

  • Manage a group of 2-3 resources, outside vendors and coach and develop your team

  • Work with senior leadership and senior company partners across departments to develop data oriented solutions to their short- and long-term business growth

  • Oversee the performance of research and data analysis functions

  • Collaborate in brainstorming sessions with content and creative teams to improve the platform regarding content, messages, formats and duration, based on the insights and learning that have emerged from the data

  • Raise individual and team competencies by gathering and disseminating knowledge and tools

  • Define and work with team members to create and automate practices, procedures and reports that monitor the integrity of the data

  • Support strategic and executive presentations and updates

  • Continue learning about industry trends, standards, and new ideas within the business intelligence data management domain


  • 8+ years of industry experience in Business Intelligence, Data Science, or related field with experience producing relevant business insights from large datasets

  • Experience with news & media companies, as well as audio/video

  • Knowledge of hands-on experience with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g Tableau, Power BI, etc.)

  • Experience managing Business Intelligence Engineers and Business Analysts

  • Strong business acumen, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated technical leadership

NYC Pay Range: $100,000 - $250,000
