Dow Jones Social Media & Performance Manager in NEW YORK, New York

Job Description:

Reporting into the Director of Performance, the Social Media & Performance Manager will be responsible for managing all of Wall Street Journal Custom Content handles and lead the growth strategy for our social media footprint. The ideal candidate should have a deep understanding of social media and audience development, strong communication skills, and a keen interest in analytics. This role will be responsible for managing the social media publishing calendars, writing and publishing organic posts on behalf of The Trust and our clients, creating and executing new product opportunities across platforms, working closely with the Performance Team to manage the overall strategy for paid social media efforts and monitoring social performance and growth across platforms.

The Trust is a fast-growing team of energetic writers, content and creative strategists,videographers, designers, photo editors and developers. The work spans a variety of forms—short- and long-form reported articles, documentary videos, interactive data visualizations, animations and more.


  • Coordinate closely with Creative and Editorial Teams across the organization to publish custom social posts across platforms (Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) for The Trust and our custom content partners

  • Create and oversee the social media strategy and social media performance for The Trust content across platforms, managing the execution of all organic social media activity and monitoring our efforts for paid promotion

  • Liaise with social media counterparts across the business to execute campaigns and create new opportunities

  • Provide strategic direction for team members and clients as it relates to campaign performance, media mix and best practices

  • Conduct A/B tests to optimize social posting language and imagery

  • Manage vendor relationships with our points of contact at the platforms to learn the latest on capabilities or enhancements and test out new product opportunities

  • Contribute to RFP responses with social strategies and recommendations

  • Expand our targeting and acquisition capabilities across new and emerging platforms

  • Implement strategic processes and develop new initiatives and social products for the branded content business


  • 3-4 years managing the strategy and creative executions for social media handles on behalf of brands

  • Experience managing organic and paid on social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter etc

  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail

  • Strategically and analytically skilled. Proven ability to comprehend the nuances of a client’s business and connect business challenges to digital and social strategies and tactics.

  • Strong communicator with a can-do attitude. Client-facing communication skills are a must.

  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment.
