Dow Jones Social Media Manager, The Trust in NEW YORK, New York

Job Description:

Reporting into the Director of Performance, the Social Media Specialist will be responsible for managing all of The Trust and Wall Street Journal Custom Content social media handles. The ideal candidate should have a passion for social media, a dedication to quality, strong writing skills, and a keen interest in analytics. This role will be responsible for managing the social media publishing calendars, writing and publishing organic posts on behalf of The Trust and our custom branded content clients, creating and executing new product opportunities across platforms, working closely with the Performance Team to manage the overall strategy for paid social media efforts and monitoring social performance and growth across platforms. To be successful in this role, the Social Media Strategist should be motivated to create and lead the growth strategy for the social media footprint of The Trust—in close collaboration with other stakeholders across the organization.

The Trust is a fast-growing team of energetic writers, content and creative strategists, videographers, designers, photo editors and developers. The work spans a variety of forms—short- and long-form reported articles, documentary videos, interactive data visualizations, animations and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate closely with Creative and Editorial Teams across the organization to create and publish custom social posts across platforms (Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) for The Trust and our custom content partners

  • Create and oversee the social media strategy and social media performance for The Trust content across platforms, managing the execution of all organic social media activity and monitoring our efforts for paid promotion

  • Liaise with social media counterparts across the business to create best practices and map key learnings

  • Share regular analytics findings with editorial and design counterparts on weekly/monthly basis

  • Conduct A/B tests to optimize social posting language and imagery

  • Work with stakeholders across the business to schedule and execute custom content posts from the newsroom social handles where applicable

  • Manage vendor relationships with our points of contact at the platforms to create new products, learn the latest on capabilities or enhancements and test out new product opportunities

  • Contribute to RFP responses with social strategies and recommendations

  • Develop and grow high value audience segments by advertiser vertical

  • Expand our targeting and acquisition capabilities across new and emerging platforms

  • Provide strategic direction for team members and clients as it relates to campaign performance, media mix and best practices.

Requirements:

  • 3-4 years managing the strategy and creative executions for social media handles on behalf of brands

  • Experience managing paid promotions across platforms

  • An organized professional with a passion for social media

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital tools, including WordPress

  • Comfort with pulling social media analytics and creating reports

  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail

  • Photo editing skills are helpful but not required

  • Background in Journalism is preferred
