About the Role

Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal are looking for a talented UX Designer to join the Brand Marketing team. This role focuses on enhancing user experience and customer journeys across various marketing channels for Dow Jones brands including WSJ, WSJ+, Barron’s, and MarketWatch. You will collaborate closely with marketing and product teams to improve the digital experience, ensuring brand consistency while optimizing the user journey from an audience-first perspective. Your role will involve advocating for UX within marketing and working towards strategic, customer-centric design solutions.

User experience in the Dow Jones marketing context centers on the ways our prospects and customers experience our brand. This role will help define the journeys, from an audience standpoint, and bring a shared understanding of UX to the marketing teams to ensure that we are asking the right questions, focusing on business priorities, connecting the dots, bringing clarity both internally and externally.

You Will:

Customer Journey Guardian

  • Understand and visualize the digital landscape across all touchpoints.

  • Balance audience needs with business objectives.

  • Guide stakeholders to make informed UX decisions that support marketing efforts.

Connecting the Dots

  • Report to the Brand Creative Director and work with project managers to connect UX projects across the ecosystem.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure clarity and cohesion between marketing and product efforts.

  • Be a liaison between marketing and UX teams, ensuring alignment with business and customer goals.

On-Brand Design Solutions

  • Work with the Brand team to create elegant and on-brand design solutions across multiple platforms.

  • Optimize user flows and experiences with a focus on brand consistency and usability.

  • Build and adapt UI designs to align with business objectives and accessibility standards.

UX Advocacy & Education

  • Champion the importance of UX within the marketing team and beyond.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate UX principles into the larger customer experience.

  • Educate stakeholders about UX best practices and advocate for user-centered design solutions.

  • Content Design

  • Design and refine user experiences across digital touchpoints, ensuring alignment with brand and business objectives.

  • Develop content strategy, wireframes, user flows, mock-ups, and prototypes.

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and competitive analysis to inform design decisions.

  • Be an evangelist to connect marketing and product with brand as a throughline

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define UX objectives and business goals.

  • Partner with and provide guidance for development teams to define and execute design solutions and advocate for UX best practices.

  • Communicate design concepts, roadmaps, and progress to stakeholders with supporting decks and presentations.

  • Incorporate learnings, data and customer insights to iterate and improve up UX solutions.

  • Innovate ideas to build strong, design-forward UX foundations, and improve design and user experience for existing websites and platforms.

  • Educate stakeholders and colleagues to build understanding of UX best practices.

  • Share knowledge and inspire the team with knowledge of design and UX trends.

You Have:

  • 5-7 years of UX design experience.

  • A strong portfolio showcasing UX skills and experience

  • Deep understanding of UX principles, content strategy and information hierarchy.

  • Willingness to make incremental improvements while working toward foundational excellence

  • BA or BS Degree in Design, UX Design, or a related field

  • Expertise in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing UX skills and experience.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present design concepts clearly and effectively to stakeholders.

  • Strong proficiency in UI, HCI, accessibility principles, and design systems.

  • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards.
