Dow Jones Reporter, Bankruptcy in NEW YORK, New York

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a reporter to cover bankruptcy news for WSJ Pro Bankruptcy and The Wall Street Journal. We need a journalist who can work fast and break news from court hearings and legal documents. We’re also looking for a reporter who can develop sources at secretive hedge funds, trading desks and law firms to break news and produce original analysis on debt restructurings, distressed M&A situations and in-court bankruptcy proceedings. Business, financial or legal reporting experience would be a plus for the role.

You will report to the bankruptcy bureau chief. While you will likely start the job working remotely, you will eventually be based in our New York office.

You will:

  • Break news from court documents, in-court proceedings and legal and investing sources

  • Produce a mix of scoops and smart analytical stories

  • Elevate and distill complex bankruptcy and financial topics into compelling stories for the wider Wall Street Journal audience.
