The Wall Street Journal is looking for an Product Manager, Audience Touchpoints to help build engaging and habit-forming news experiences for our audience. The role will work with both the web and mobile product teams, driving delivery and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, external partners, and Agile software development teams. You will support product directors as they build a roadmap and rapidly assess, implement, test, and optimize various features and capabilities across our owned and operated properties.
This role reports to the Journal’s Web Product Director as well as takes direction from the team’s program manager.
The right person:
You’ve thought about the ways the news industry is changing and have some experience in product work. You look for the opportunity to solve problems — for both journalists and consumers — in a scalable, reusable fashion.
Role and responsibilities:
Write clear, concise requirements and user stories which clearly and unambiguously communicate acceptance criteria (i.e. what success looks like)
Coordinate communication between developers, designers, and business stakeholders regarding goals, requirements, and growth expectations
Provide accurate and timely program status reporting throughout the life cycle
Skills and qualifications:
2+ years product experience
Able to accurately handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented with excellent organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Able to work well independently and as a member of a larger team
Decisive with a bias towards action; must thrive in fast-paced, agile environments
Able to effectively present and explain results with quantitative information
Understand relevant web design and development technologies with the ability to effectively engage engineering teams and relay their feedback to stakeholders
Experience working closely with engineering teams, as well as an understanding of both web and mobile platforms.
Excellent communication, organization and collaboration skills.
A background in journalism or content creation is a big plus.
