Job Description:
Barron’s Group is seeking a Digital Audio Lead for a temporary/contract assignment in its podcast unit. Based in New York, candidates for this position will demonstrate excellent journalistic instincts, creative production and the ability to work seamlessly with a newsroom. The top candidate for this role will be a self starter with an entrepreneurial spirit -- someone who likes to innovate and iterate, and has a proven track record developing and launching new series while managing daily, current production.
Primary responsibilities include:
Manage end to end process of producing daily, weekly and limited news, analysis and feature
Propose and develop new original ideas for relevant programming on a regular basis
Engage with marketing teams to develop marketing and promotional plans and opportunities for podcasts
Coordinate with platforms and vendors, proactively taking all necessary steps to ensure timely and uninterrupted distribution of audio content
Partner with technical operations to ensure audio equipment, studios and facilities are functioning and up to date
Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly audio reports to leadership, clearly communicating targets and actuals, and providing regular updates about programming
Collaborate with key editors to program and develop stories for existing and new podcast products
Coach reporters and editors to strengthen voiceover skills
Research, write, edit and produce coverage, as necessary
Provide notes on scripts and programs in production
Ensure that all journalistic and legal standards are followed at all times
Key candidate requirements:
5 + Years experience working in a non-fiction audio environment, producing original audio content
Understanding of current business and markets trends, domestic and international news, tech and politics, investing and personal finance
Demonstrated ability producing compelling programs under tight deadline constraints
Experience with distribution and ad-serving providers
Superb writing and reporting skills, with a proven ability to write sharply and engagingly on difficult-to-explain topics
Up-to-date understanding of trends in audio journalism
Strong coaching skills - good at providing constructive feedback to both colleagues and expert guests
Fluency with audio editing
A fascination with finance, business, technology, and breaking news
Contract will last between 6-12 months.
