Marketing & Business Insights Manager job description

Barron’s is seeking a senior analyst with an instinct for marketing whose data insights will help the Wealth & Asset Management Group’s dynamic business grow even faster. The new hire will guide our data and analytics strategy to drive smarter decisions for a business whose functions include sales, conferences, a website, subscriptions, and newsletters for financial advisors. Your insights will inform user acquisition and retention, email and social strategies, both paid and organic. Working with the help of a data analyst you manage, you will create dashboards for different business areas, define architecture for engineers, and ensure that all tracking is in place to properly collect data. You will use your strong diplomatic skills to work across teams at Dow Jones.

The Successful Candidate will

  • Develop ways to use data for continued growth of the business

  • Use data analysis to measure ROI of all business initiatives

  • Ensure all of the unit’s activities are using data to maximize efficiency

Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain organized tagging format for all marketing activities to ensure data hygiene specifically for analysis efforts

  • Ensure proper data collection mechanisms across DJ properties as they relate to W&AM.

  • Translate stakeholder / business requests into reporting and dashboard projects for data analyst and use visualization tools to present complex model and business insights in a simple, engaging manner

  • Track performance of all of the team’s products, including subscriptions, newsletters, webinars, and podcasts.

  • Ensure go-to-market strategies for new product launches are properly tracked and supported by data infrastructure.

  • Translate requirements between technical and business functions

  • Route assets between the business unit and Product/Development teams

  • Be proactive with product decisions to ensure strategic direction/data collection will not clash with legal and compliance requirements.

  • Use the Dow Jones terabyte-scale data lake to identify opportunities to enhance an understanding of the Dow Jones customer base and content consumption

  • Draw meaningful insights from large datasets, define key metrics to track performance, and develop actionable solutions to tackle business problems

  • Identify opportunities for new data projects. Ask smart questions, diagnose the real problem, and develop a long-term solution

  • Interpret trends from data and work closely with stakeholders to enable them to understand the dynamics behind the data

Required skills

  • Proficiency in SQL, HTML/CSS

  • Familiarity with AWS platforms

  • Experience with Adobe Analytics and/or Google Analytics

  • Experience with integrations among MarTech tools

  • Experience designing and/or working with an enterprise CDP

  • Strong written and oral communication abilities

Preferred Skills:

  • Javascript

  • Python

  • Experience as salesforce developer or admin
