Job Description:

We are looking for a Data Associate to become part of a specialized team within consumer marketing focused on delivering integrated and strategic campaigns. In collaboration with agency partners, internal marketing managers and groups across Dow Jones we deliver campaigns across owned, barter and paid media that sync media and marketing strategies to deliver against KPIs and grow brand awareness and consideration. This role will require excellent project management skills and an interest in business intelligence tools to deliver customer analytics to inform campaign strategy, as well as contextualize results into key learnings. You will assist in the management and execution of large scale marketing projects and support reporting and optimizing business functions.

What you’ll do:

  • Source and query data required for both ongoing business intelligence efforts and brand and events campaigns to grow our audience.

  • Set up and implement data infrastructure on a twofold scale: dashboards to monitor campaign performance and analysis on both a regular cadence and ad hoc basis.

  • Draw meaningful insights from large datasets to contextualize results—find creative ways those insights can be used and applied as learnings for future campaign work.

  • Be an expert in benchmarks and flag if/how campaign strategy should adjust to effectively optimize in real-time.

  • Provide a 360 view of data informing media decisions, connecting top of funnel brand marketing with bottom funnel performance marketing. Effectively communicate with business stakeholders, external agency partners and our data science team identifying requirements and developing success metrics for campaign deployment and tracking.

  • Identify opportunities for new tactics and efficient reporting. Ask smart questions, diagnose the real problem, and develop a long-term solution.

Requirements:

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in information systems, marketing, operations, or general management from a technically intensive business program. Graduates with relevant coursework or professional experience in business intelligence or marketing are also encouraged to apply.

  • 1-2 years experience working in a data-related role is preferred.

  • You have an entrepreneurial attitude toward work and sweat the details.

  • You have experience using analytics tools (SQL, Tableau, Excel, Adobe) and an interest in connecting marketing top and bottom funnel work.

  • An enthusiasm for The Wall Street Journal and an understanding of the product is a must. Some background in media is preferred.
