Job Description:
The Wall Street Journal is seeking a high-energy news editor for a role at the heart of our newsroom: financial-markets coverage. Our ambitious markets team delivers news, analysis and ideas to readers throughout the day--at the speed and tempo of the ever-changing financial markets.
You’ll have the full gamut of editing and publishing responsibilities: working with reporters to sharpen ideas, line editing of copy, digital publishing. No day will be dull: The markets are wild and fun and essential to our readers’ understanding of finance and the economy.
Markets coverage is core to the Journal – and highly visible on all of our platforms. We need an editor capable of handling breaking news, sharp commentary and thoughtful analysis, as well as deeply reported features. We’re looking for someone who can deftly work across coverage teams to produce ambitious journalism that enhances our readers’ understanding of the fascinating tangle of financial markets and their impact on the broader economy. Enthusiasm for new storytelling formats and a willingness to experiment with video, audio and emerging platforms are essential.
You will:
Edit and shepherd stories for the Journal and our daily digital liveblog
Help shape the direction of our markets coverage
Publish to our digital platforms
You have:
At least five years’ experience in financial journalism and enthusiasm for financial markets
Editing experience or outstanding writing skills if you haven’t edited before
An entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to adapt
A facility with charts, social media or other aspects of digital financial journalism
