Manager, Business Operations - Live Journalism

The Business Operations Manager is responsible for supporting WSJ Live Journalism to drive efficiency and speed, removing obstacles that would otherwise slow down the organization. The Business Operations Manager collaborates with leadership to manage and execute special projects and to provide business collaboration with finance; human resources; and operations. Provides administrative support to the GM of Live Journalism and helps manage team resources.

What are my key responsibilities?

  • Calendar management, correspondence, travel planning and administrative duties as needed for the GM, Live Journalism.

  • Contribute to, support or lead on specific projects as briefed by the GM.

  • Prepare presentations; develop meeting agendas, compile pertinent background materials for meetings, prepare summaries of discussion for the GM, Live Journalism.

  • Review and manage processes, development and communications for the Live Journalism team around team-building events.

  • Manage and Engage with Dow Jones and News Corp Executives at Events.

  • Share research and best practices to ensure we provide best in class concierge experience.

  • Partner closely with the Events Team to define Executive needs and experience at WSJ and DJ events.

  • Manage internal VIPs by overseeing their experience, connecting with respective team members throughout.

  • Ensure Executive attendance at appropriate events onsite/virtual (i.e sponsored moments, Dinners, etc)

  • Provide onsite/virtual 'executive assistant' for all DJ and NC executive guests at events.

  • Maintain and develop relationships with any existing and new EAs and Chief of Staffs of internal Executives.

  • Instills a sense of teamwork and loyalty within the broader team to inspire and motivate others around growth initiatives; acts as “eyes and ears” to ensure such initiatives are implemented effectively

  • Assists in facilitating decision-making with the GM Initiatives and Senior leadership team; acts as confidant, sounding board, and advisor to offer sound perspective and guidance. Anticipates needs of GM related to workload.


  • 4+ years of experience

  • You've got a college degree.

  • You are a strategic thinker.

  • You're a team-player with an outsized sense of fun.

  • You communicate clearly and effectively.

  • You’ve got experience working with Executives and must be comfortable and confident to advise the Executive leadership team.

  • You have excellent project management skills and can juggle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • You are well-versed in Microsoft Office and Google Suite - especially Excel and GSheets.

  • You have experience with platforms like Concur and Cvent (preferred).
