The Wall Street Journal’s Off Duty weekend lifestyle section is looking for a knowledgeable, passionate interim editor to oversee the styling and market within its Fashion & Style team.
You will report to the section’s fashion director and its editor. You will be responsible for overseeing the fashion market components of all men’s and women’s stories, as well as styling model shoots and still lives. As this is a temporary position, the ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running with existing brand contacts and a clear sense of all aspects of fashion journalism for a service publication. We’re looking for an editor with a strong visual sense and impeccable taste, who is able to communicate ideas clearly and manage a complicated workflow efficiently.
This position is three days/week, beginning in December 30, 2019 and running through May 29, 2020.
Oversee the market for all men’s and women’s fashion stories
Work with photo and art departments to manage the photo shoot schedule
Work with the fashion closet to manage the flow of product and ensure impeccable on-set professionalism
Develop creative concepts for showing product and styling shoots, and effective plans for their execution
Maintain relationships with both luxury and mass brands, and attend market appointments and events when needed
Stay abreast of all industry news and seasonal collections, and arrange desksides and appointments when required
Style and approve still-life photo shoots with a rigorous eye to detail
Attend regular fashion-team and editorial-team meetings; pitch ideas
