Job Description:
The Audio and Video Engineering team is looking for an Engineering Manager who wants to be part of an engineering team that works closely with our Product, Editorial, and other technology and business partners across Dow Jones. At Dow Jones, everyone has the opportunity to come up with new ideas and our engineering teams play a critical role in all stages of the product life cycle. Our ideal candidate will be someone with experience developing and maintaining media platforms.
As the manager of the Audio and Video team, you will work collaboratively with engineers and business stakeholders, across all brands and groups at Dow Jones, including our Emmy Award winning team at The Wall Street Journal. You’ll partner closely with our Product team to keep the team running smoothly, and collaborate with other managers, Product Owners, and engineers across Dow Jones on ways to share knowledge, services, and technologies.

Skills & Experience
7+ years total experience in Software Engineering, with experience delivering digital media solutions
1+ years leading or managing and motivating a Software Engineering team
Working knowledge of audio/video codecs and transport formats
Understanding of media management, storage systems and best practices
Experience with commercial OVP’s, media monetization, and analytics platforms
Familiarity with web technologies such as Node.js and React
Experience with cloud computing via AWS or another cloud provider
Understanding of microservices or service-oriented architecture
Experience with Agile Development methodologies (SCRUM)
Proven ability to analyze, separate, and estimate effort associated with various technical solutions
Ability and desire to interact with technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels
