Director, Revenue Operations
Dow Jones, the world’s premier publisher of online business and financial news including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and MarketWatch, has an exciting career opportunity available as a Revenue Operations Director within the Strategic Planning & Delivery team.
As a Revenue Operations Director, you and your team will manage our digital product catalog and inventory forecasting systems, playing a critical role in maximizing yield and revenue across WSJ and Barron's Group. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data, strong analytical and quantitative skills, and an advanced understanding of the digital ecosystem.
This role will work closely with ad ops, planning, product & engineering, finance, marketing and direct sales leadership, and across all media types including digital display, programmatic, native, podcast, and video.
Apply quantitative techniques and systems to drive yield optimization, increase operational efficiencies, and unlock new revenue opportunities
Manage systems, workflows, product enhancements, and troubleshooting related to the technology platforms that support our digital business, including OMS (Operative.One), inventory forecasting and analytics tool (YieldEx), DMP (Oracle).
Stakeholder in workflow from CRM to order management system.
Manage and optimize the organization’s digital product catalog, ensuring catalogue reflects sale demand, upcoming product launches and OMS enhancements
Assist in optimization of on-site utilization and supply, including daily inventory and pricing reports, product recommendations, inventory trends, and alternate delivery opportunities.
Deliver weekly analysis and recommendations on inventory allocation, yield trends, pricing, and systems improvements to senior management
Identify opportunities and implement solutions that help to provide efficiency within the Revenue Operations team, including the development of tools, processes, systems and reports
Partner with Ad Operations, Billing and Sales Planning to improve and refine processes and procedures within sales order management system to reduce bottlenecks
Distribute regular reporting that provides a holistic view of revenue, inventory, and sell-through metrics for both direct and programmatic sales.
Own ongoing sales analysis by line of business, seasonality, historical sales, advertiser, category and agency/holding company.
Work closely with sales management and finance to evaluate the impact of specific initiatives, providing business intelligence to drive executive decisions.
Partner with Ad Product, Tech and Sales leadership to develop quantitative analysis, ad hoc reports, models, and A/B tests to support advertising decisions.
Engage broader Operations teams and inventory suppliers on issues and trends; conduct analysis to provide guidance to engineering around tech bugs and issues
Solid understanding of digital systems including, or similar to: Google Ad Manager (DFP), Operative.One (Op1), YieldEx, Omniture, Moat, Domo, Tableau, Salesforce, BlueKai, Krux, Data Warehouse
Strong analytical, strategic and creative problem-solving skills; Expert level Excel modeling experience required
Knowledge of BigQuery and SQL a plus
Strong capacity to work with internal partners to improve processes and develop best practices.
Ability to multi-task and work efficiently within a fast-paced environment
Solid understanding of digital advertising metrics and current industry trends
Smart and quick proactive learner with organizational agility and strong attention to detail. Willingness and ability to learn and do whatever is needed to see a project through to completion
Strong communication skills: ability to translate quantitative details into clear, succinct summaries and recommendations for peers, sales, and executive audiences. Possess an ability to work effectively and interface with both the sales team and product teams. Must be comfortable communicating at all levels from C-Suite to junior team members.
A proven ability to do both tactical work and set an overall strategy when working on a project.
Education: BA/BS with majors in Business, Marketing, Statistics, or Economics5+ years of digital advertising experience required, yield or analytical experience preferred.
