Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal & Barron’s Group, The TRUST, is a fast-growing team of energetic writers, content and creative strategists, videographers, designers, editors and developers. The work spans a variety of forms -- short- and long-form reported articles, immersive digital experiences, documentary videos, data visualizations, animations and more. This is an on-site (NYC) full-time position that will work across various clients and in-house brands including The Wall Street Journal, WSJ. Magazine, MarketWatch, Barron’s, Mansion Global, Moneyish, and more.

The Role

The Director of Production will report into our Global Head of Creative and lead a small team of producers, video editors, and freelancers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and vision for branded content video at WSJ Barron’s Group.

  • Help bring the vision of the Creative Directors concepts to life across platform.

  • Oversee production of all branded content video programs, ensuring the highest standards of quality. Serve as the critical connection point for clients, agencies, sales, marketing, and editorial.

  • Develop proactive initiatives to fuel growth of the branded video business at various budget levels, through scalable, industry-leading creative and offerings.

  • Collaborate with Creative and Editorial Directors cross-vertical on the RFP response in Pre-sale by consulting on budget tiers and feasibility.

  • Grow a robust network of production partners, ensuring we have a multitude of options for vendors across a range of budgets.

  • Manage and mentor a small team consisted of Producers all while maintaining a roster of trusted freelancers.

  • Approve budgets, schedules, and all creative deliverables. Manage internal and client reviews.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Work with Business Affairs, HR and Head of Ops to ensure proper onboarding process and protocol is followed for all vendors, new hires and freelancers.

  • Establish team goals for each direct report as well as overall and work to achieve and maintain.

  • Manage direct reports work load, goals and quarterly check ins.

  • Manage the internal relationship with legal team to ensure we have appropriate contracts & licensing within international legal boundaries

  • Communicate production processes and best practices, while continually seeking improvements to drive efficiencies in production and budget.

  • Manage day-to-day escalations and troubleshooting of production challenges
