Job Description:

Reporting to the VP External Communications/B2C, the Director, Crisis Communications, will advance crisis preparedness and lead communications on a broad range of issues including geopolitical issues impacting Dow Jones journalists and other employees, service disruptions, introduction of regulation. The successful candidate will also work proactively to enhance the company’s reputation by managing corporate news surrounding mergers, acquisitions and strategic partnerships. The director will act as a center of excellence for change and crisis management strategies, serving as an advisor to Communication Business Partners and leadership team, and execute on those strategies in partnership with the Corporate Communications team.
This role will be responsible for identifying and tracking potential threats to the organization, assisting with the development protocols and processes to mitigate those threats, and partnering with others in the organization on response efforts.
Responsibilities
Develop framework and lead development of protocols, processes, and tools for rapid crisis management and change management communications
Engage Communication Business Partners and senior stakeholders to anticipate risks, scenario plan, ensure alignment and enable stakeholder/partner outreach, awareness, understanding, buy-in and support
Write crisis communications / messaging, ensuring clarity, quality, and consistency in alignment with Dow Jones’s interests and priorities
Advise stakeholders on change management communications best practices, providing hands-on project and communications support where needed (e.g. acquisition, integration, re-orgs, etc.)
Skills and Experience
10+ years crisis communications experience
Deep reputational risk and crisis management background, preferable in a corporate environment
Communications strategy and planning
Storytelling and messaging background
Change communications skills
Traditional + digital media knowledge
Experience building comprehensive comms strategies
Advising senior stakeholders on comms needs
Managing external/internal channels
Advising senior stakeholders on strategic approaches to crisis and risk
