Dow Jones Culture Editor, WSJ Magazine in NEW YORK, New York

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal Magazine seeks a self-motivated editor to contribute to its cultural coverage, both in print and online. The role reports to the magazine’s executive editor and the editor-in-chief. In addition to developing thought-provoking and relevant stories about music, art, food, entertainment and travel, the editor will oversee and wrangle sources for three of the magazine’s regular print features: “Columnists,” “Tracked” and “Still Life.” The editor will also contribute weekly to WSJ.’s cultural vertical, assigning, editing and writing regular digital features to augment the magazine’s print coverage, as well as generating digital-first ideas. Accordingly, the ideal candidate must be flexible, news-oriented and forward-thinking and have an established network of freelance writers.

Responsibilities:

  • Track upcoming arts, entertainment, literary and lifestyle projects on a long-lead basis for potential coverage in print magazine.

  • Wrangle talent and schedule, conduct and transcribe interviews for relevant sections (Columnists, Still Life); or coordinate, assign and edit (Tracked).

  • Work closely with WSJ digital team to help shape site’s cultural coverage and generate digital exclusives.

  • Represent WSJ Magazine at cultural events and with industry PR.
