We’re looking for someone to join our Technology team, to run the Product & Technology for a growing Professional Information Business (PIB), this includes our Factiva product targeted at Organizations to enable in depth research, our low latency Newswires, used by Algo traders globally for micro second trades, our new DNA platform which is powering companies machine learning initiatives with highly structured news archive and our rapidly growing Risk & Compliance product suite which is used by companies to tackle global issues such as human slavery, money launder and political corruption. While working in Technology the role will have a very close partnership with the General Managers of our PIB businesses. You will be exposed to innovative tech, interacting directly with our customers to develop leading solutions that will fuel our growth.

You will report to the Group Chief Product Technology Officer, who is responsible for all products and technology across WSJ, Barrons and PIB. Your role as a department head, technologist and product head will include:

  • Partnering with Executives & General Managers along with cross-functional teams to design, develop, implement, launch and support new products that grow our business and achieve agreed business, engagement and revenue goals. These include products like Factiva, Newswires and Risk & Compliance

  • Develop community of Technical Product Managers in collaboration with other product leaders and evangelize best practices to deliver world-class Products

  • Contribute to Dow Jones technology strategy and adhere to agreed company-wide standards and platforms across teams

  • Partner with Dow Jones Engineering and external third parties and off-shore development teams to coordinate technology plans and deliver products

  • Be instrumental in building an engineering DNA for the organization

  • To contribute to major recruitment, talent and publicity events and initiatives on behalf of Technology

To do this role you will need to be

  • Skilled and structured in software delivery methodologies

  • Able to effectively interact with diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels and across a globally-distributed organization

  • Able to understand and influence complex technology architectures.

  • Demonstrating leadership of multidisciplinary technology teams

  • Able to facilitate disparate stakeholders and team members, negotiate multiple points of strategy contention, and drive consensus in meetings, workshops and one to one interactions.

  • Able sell ideas or visions. Influence and advise stakeholders at all levels and positions in the company.
