Dow Jones Audio Engineer in NEW YORK, New York

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is seeking an audio engineer/technician to help maintain daily operations for its podcast studios in midtown Manhattan.

Primary responsibilities include:

Maintain high quality standards for studio recordings and field audio

Keep podcast studio and podcast whisper room in reliable working order

Must embrace and adopt new technologies for audio gathering, both in-house and in the field

Must work professionally with growing podcast team to meet tight deadlines

Key candidate requirements:

At least 3 to 5 years experience with podcast, audio and voiceover studios

Should have experience with a range of technologies, including Audio over IP, ISDN and Skype

Must be familiar with installing, maintaining and capturing audio on Adobe Audition and similar software

Ability to troubleshoot in a pinch and calmly find a resolution

Must be comfortable making studio repairs, ranging from microphones to Comrex units to Telos Xstreams

Should have ability to maintain field gear, especially Marantz, MixPre3 and MixPre6 devices

Should know best practices for multi-track audio editing
