What Does the Subscriber Journeys Team Do?
At Dow Jones, we use customer-facing experimentation as the bleeding edge of our product roadmaps. The team is responsible for designing, prioritizing and executing digital experimentation across Dow Jones’ digital properties to incrementally increase the rate at which we acquire, engage, and retain our members. With our partners across the organization, we design variations for digital experiences informed by extensive research, prior tests, and gut instinct. We construct these digital experiments, working through design, metrics, scheduling, and technical solutions. We then launch these variations to a percentage of traffic, measuring their impact against the current experience in real time. When a superior experience is found, it is pushed live to 100% of traffic, and the process begins again.
Why does it matter? Digital experimentation injects an unfiltered customer feedback loop directly into our product roadmaps, helping businesses develop the most valuable, sticky, meaningful product to our customers. What will you do?
You will be a truth-seeking missile, scrappily hunting down data that might lead to solid experiment ideas. You will develop insights into hypotheses, user stories and mockups, which you will prioritize based on scale, impact and effort and strategic importance. You will be given full ownership of smaller roadmaps as quickly as you are able.
You will manage technical execution of development, launch, monitoring while live. In partnership with data science, you will creatively, meticulously analyze the experiment results, slicing and dicing the data to look for value wherever it might be hiding, and then track the long-term impact on members. Where appropriate, you will work with the core teams to permanently implement successful learnings.
What is specific to acquisition?
Acquisition is where the customer relationship begins and it’s where this team has delivered an astonishing amount of value in the last 4 years. We’ve become sophisticated which has added complexity and scale. You will help manage 5 experimentation roadmaps:
You will be given ownership of some of these roadmaps as soon as you are able.
You will work with the core roadmap team to prioritize and solution permanent implementation of experiment winners and coordinate the testing of technical features e.g. Amazon Pay.

An ability to help strategically solve technical problems because of prior direct experience working with engineers, data scientists, etc.
An understanding of the tools and techniques used in digital product development
Prior experience in Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or another major analytics platform to gather, sort, analyze, and action data
