Dow Jones Associate Producer, WSJ Podcasts in NEW YORK, New York

Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is looking for an associate producer to join its podcasting team. You will work with audio producers and hosts, reporters and editors across the Journal’s global newsroom, as well as video colleagues, to help develop and produce daily news briefs and subject-specific podcasts. You will work across shows and formats, as needed. Top candidates for this position will have a professional background in audio journalism, excellent organizational and research skills, and experience producing in the studio and the field.

You Will:

  • Research topics of interest to The Wall Street Journal’s audience

  • Source timely news and archival audio

  • Record remote, studio and field interviews

  • Edit clips and briefs

  • Book interview guests, as well as plan and execute remote interviews

  • Collaborate with news reporters and editors to share their reporting in audio form

  • Coordinate podcast appearances by reporters and editors in New York, Hong Kong, London and other international offices

  • Fact-check and ensure that all journalistic and legal standards are followed

  • Be able to work late hours and weekends as news developments may warrant

  • Work to improve social media presence of daily podcasts

  • Work closely with editors to ensure daily podcasts are embedded in articles

  • Complete additional duties as assigned

You Have:

  • At least one year of experience working in a daily news environment, preferably at a top-tier news organization

  • The ability to convey news and tell business and markets stories in creative ways

  • A track record of producing quality audio content efficiently under tight deadline constraints

  • Knowledge of current events, U.S. and world politics and economics, as well as a nose for news

  • A professional-level understanding of Adobe Audition and Pro Tools software

  • The ability to communicate clearly with exceptional written and collaboration skills

You will be based in New York City and report to Kateri Jochum, Executive Producer, Audio. While you will likely start the job working from home, you will eventually be based in our New York office.
