Associate Director, Membership Insights
The Membership team is committed to supporting great journalism through the improvement of our products and the growth of our subscription business. We find meaningful ways to grow readership of The Wall Street Journal and Barron’s, encourage engagement with our products, and manage the experience of our customers. We advocate for members in the design of our products and use data to support customer-centric decision-making at all levels of the organization.
We are looking for an expert in applied analytics and behavioral science to lead a team of data specialists. In this role, you will work collaboratively across the membership team, consulting on new, creative ways teams can apply analytics to strategy. In this role, you will also manage and grow a team of insights analysts working on behavioral research and business-facing membership dashboards to inform better decision-making within our organization. You will uphold rigorous standards for the execution of AB tests and lead the measurement of our products.
You have at least 3-4 years experience as a people manager.
You have 6+ years experience in an analytics or media-related role. An enthusiasm for The Wall Street Journal and an understanding of the product is a must.
You understand the mechanics of revenue models for media, and can articulate the need for data-led decision-making with a diverse range of stakeholders—including those in product, engineering, and editorial.
The role will require an interest in interfacing with other media businesses, building our profile as leader on applying data science within the publishing industry through speaking engagements, published work, and meetings with business partners.
You have strong coding skills in R and/or Python and understand version control software (git/GitHub).
You have a mastery of analytics tools (SQL, Tableau, Adobe/Google Analytics).
You are well versed in the fundamentals of statistics and understand appropriate applications for machine learning algorithms.
You have an entrepreneurial attitude toward work and sweat the details.
You have an interest in continued learning and stay well versed in new technologies that can be leveraged by your team.
