About the Role
Join the pioneering News Automation team at Dow Jones, a global leader in news and business information. We are seeking an enthusiastic intern to work alongside our business stakeholders, product owners, and developers in creating highly interactive, dynamic, data-driven applications. Interns will be responsible for new product development, customizations, and enhancements and will work closely with cross-functional staff to deliver against project goals.
Your team is responsible for designing, building and maintaining services and systems that are shared across all of Dow Jones. Existing services consist of front and backend applications that solve a wide range of problems in the content generation space. We’re looking for a self-starter who is willing to explore and learn about existing services, while also working to create new greenfield applications. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience with the latest technologies in AI and cloud computing and benefit from mentorship and other professional development opportunities within Dow Jones.
Automated Language Generation: Engage actively in the News Automation team's efforts in automated language generation
Content Generation: Be part of a team generating over 700 AI-authored articles daily, which account for 43% of the content on Marketwatch.com
Brand Contribution: Contribute to automated publishing efforts for other Dow Jones brands, including Dow Jones Newswires, The Wall Street Journal, Barrons, and Mansion Global
Technology Exploration: Gain hands-on experience with both template-driven and ML-driven AI technologies in the media and publishing sector
Strong understanding of software best-practices as it applies to web application development
Experience with or interest in AI language generation
Familiarity with Large Language Models
Experience with Agile Development methodologies (Kanban)
Understanding of service-oriented architecture
Ability to prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
A self-starter that is able to collaborate actively with others in a cross-functional team
Experience with Docker, Elastic Beanstalk or other cloud or container based application deployment
Experience with Angular, React or other single page framework
Experience with cloud computing via AWS or another cloud provider
