About the Role:
The User Services team within Dow Jones is looking for a motivated intern interested in having fun being a developer. The team supports over 100 newsletters, 15 million subscribers, alerting and a variety of common UI components used across all our brands (WSJ, Marketwatch, Barrons, Factiva). Since we own a diverse set of products within Dow Jones, during your internship, you'll get a chance to work on one or more of the following projects and a variety of technologies: Observability/monitoring, Data science/mining and reporting, Newsletter delivery, UI design, development and delivery using React, Web components and Design systems.
The User Services team is responsible for designing, building and maintaining services and systems that are shared across all of Dow Jones. These applications are essential to the day to day operations of developers as well as editors and other employees. Existing services consist of front and backend applications that solve a wide range of problems. We’re looking for a self-starter who is willing to explore and learn about existing shared services, while also working to create new greenfield applications using the latest cloud technologies.
This role is hybrid, based in our Minneapolis office.
Have an understanding or willingness to understand software best-practices as it applies to web application development
Have a willingness to learn or have experience in Agile Development methodologies (SCRUM)
Have an understanding or willingness to understand service-oriented architecture
Be able to prioritize and manage work and ask questions in order to meet timelines.
Be self-starter that is able to collaborate actively with others in a cross-functional team
Experience withNode, npm
Experience with .Net Core
Experience with Angular, React or other single page framework
Experience with cloud computing via AWS or another cloud provider
Experience with SQL & NoSQL
NYC Pay Range: $21.00/hour
