Investor’s Business Daily seeks a Senior Audience Development Strategist with experience in the publishing industry to help lead the Content Department’s SEO and other initiatives aimed at profitably growing organic traffic and engagement to the Investors.com website. We are a subscription-based company with a mission to help investors make more money in the stock market. The position will be located at IBD’s Los Angeles headquarters, although a remote location could be considered.

About the Role/Position:
The Senior Audience Development Strategist provides best practices, ideas and data support to guide the Content Department’s audience development initiatives. SEO is a major responsibility. The position will play a leadership role in expanding the newsroom’s audience development team and supervising one or more new hires. While the role is based in the newsroom, significant collaboration is required with other IBD departments to establish and execute strategies.
Lead SEO initiatives, establishing best practices to optimize content and working with the newsroom and content creators to implement them.
Help build out the Content Department’s audience development team and supervise potential new roles, such as a hands-on SEO editor.
Help develop and track key metrics to analyze site, platform and social traffic, newsroom performance, audience behavior and conversion activity from visitor to paid subscriber.
Work with content team managers and other journalists, while collaborating across departments including Marketing, Product and Licensing/Distribution, to create, optimize and execute audience development strategies.
Monitor real-time traffic, trending topics and social data to support the newsroom and content creation efforts. Quickly and efficiently respond to journalists’ data requests, and suggest topics or angles to cover.
Evaluate, recommend and help implement third-party tools that support the content team’s audience development initiatives.
Help execute newsroom’s strategies for social media and platforms including Facebook, Google, Twitter, Apple News and other platforms.
Monitor syndication feeds and ensure best practices with syndication partners and platforms.
Participate in creation and execution of newsletters and engagement emails, alerts and future content products in the AI space.
Competitive analysis of other publishers’ audience development strategies, including new and best practices.
Through reading, seminars, conferences or training, keep up with the latest trends and developments in SEO, social media, platforms and other audience development and engagement areas.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent practical experience.
Five years of audience development experience, including data research, analysis and reporting, and including experience in a newsroom or other media/publishing environment.
Deep understanding of SEO, social media and platforms with the ability to execute best practices for our particular business.
Well-versed in the latest audience development and engagement practices.
Understanding of the stock market and 24-hour business news cycle is a big plus.
Proficient in data analytics tools such as Parse.ly, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Chartbeat, Facebook Insights and Twitter analytics.
Proficient in data display, reporting and analysis software such as Excel, PowerPoint or other charting and data analysis tools.
Coding skills are a plus.
