Dow Jones Business Analyst in Los Angeles, California

Job Description:

Summary

Investor’s Business Daily is looking for a Business Analyst to join the Engineering team and drive technical projects. In this role you will be expected to implement Scrum methodologies during the development of digital cutting-edge projects with a team made up of UX, Design, Product Managers, Front End and Back End Developers, Quality Assurance and Technical Operations. You will also be expected to develop technical requirements that support product features.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates all agile ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives etc.).

  • Leads scrum teams with a focus on ensuring successful implementation.

  • Maintains an organized project using project management tools (e.g., JIRA).

  • Partners with engineering, product, and business leadership to build highly collaborative teams and to enhance communication across teams and stakeholders.

  • Provides guidance and direction required for meeting project objectives.

  • Drives actions to completion.

  • Provides regular updates to management/leadership and other stakeholders via written updates and oral presentations.

  • Manages and escalates issues and risks appropriately.

  • Manages project resources (technical and non-technical) professionally, providing constructive feedback as needed.

  • Escalates resource issues appropriately.

  • Communicates and collaborates across functions, divisions, and levels to accomplish assigned goals.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in a technical field.

  • 2-3 years of Scrum Master or agile product management experience, certification a plus.

  • Experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies, such as sprint planning, sprint review, and retrospectives.

  • Experience with Release Management, QA Resource Planning, etc.

  • Experience managing complex technical projects to completion.

  • Strong understanding of agile software development life cycle methodology

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong collaborator and willingness to go above and beyond.

  • Familiarity with agile software management and collaboration tools like GitHub and JIRA.

  • The ability to recognize team needs and project barriers and resolve them effectively.

  • Strong analytical skills for determining the key pieces of information required for making informed decisions.

  • The ability to adjust communication style and content to interact with IT and business professionals.

  • Experience handling multiple projects.

  • Knowledge of the AWS cloud is a plus.

  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence a plus.
