Wall Street Journal Digital, the world’s premier publisher of online business and financial news including The Wall Street Journal Online, Barron’s Online and MarketWatch, has an exciting career opportunity available as a Programmatic Strategy Specialist within the Ad Sales Digital Strategy & Operations team. As a Programmatic Strategy Specialist, you will play a critical role in maximizing yield and revenue across WSJDN through programmatic channels. Working in conjunction with Sales, AdOps, and DSP Partners, the Programmatic Manager will oversee the development, implementation, and optimization of programmatic strategies and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, as well as experience in ad technology, ad operations, and programmatic yield management.
Act as point of contact for all SSP/exchange platforms.
Manage the day-to-day flow of programmatic inventory, including rules, block lists, price floors.
Work with product and ad operations teams to evaluate, implement and test partner platform technology.
Maintain programmatic forecasting models, dashboards and other analyses related to programmatic and other 3rd party revenue streams.
Present reports/analyses (in person or electronically) that contain valuable, actionable insight to a wide range of team members, from entry-level to senior executives.
Maintain knowledge of media technology, supply-side platforms, buy-side platforms and analytics tools.
This is what we are looking for in broad strokes:
Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven recommendations
Knowledge of how to query large datasets, and combine disparate data, using analytics software or SQL to deliver actionable insights (qualitative and quantitative), which would empower internal teams and equip them to make informed, data-driven decisions and drive optimization
Collaborate with internal departments on ad hoc reporting needs
Expert level Excel modelling experience preferred
Strong communication skills - this position has exposure to many teams including Client Side, Sales, Account Management & Engineering.
Ability to work with a wide range of people at all decision-making levels
Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
BA/BS College degree preferred
Here are some things that we'd prefer to see, though none is independently a requirement:
2-3 years programmatic/adtech experience or technical account management.
Solid understanding of digital systems including: Ad Manager, AppNexus, Rubicon, Header Bidding, ads.txt, Omniture, etc.
