Job Description:

Dow Jones is recruiting an Operations Support Specialist for its News team in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The successful applicant will be based in London, part of a six-person team that handles essential back-office functions for 250 journalists in 25 offices across the region. The role is full time for an initial fixed term of six months.

Operations Support is a key function within the business that helps reporters and editors to focus on their primary news roles, so applicants should be responsible, focused, driven, multi-skilled, and outcome oriented.

Key duties include:

  • All aspects of invoice processing, including pro-active relations with suppliers to assure continuity of key services. Many of these suppliers are outside the U.K.

  • Dealing with day to day operational challenges in the European, Middle East and African bureaus and offering assistance remotely. This will involve close working relationships with bureau staff, our IT team and accounts payable.

Essential skills for the job include:

  • Familiarity with SAP or a similar business operations platform.

  • Competency with one or more European languages plus English. The languages we need to cover at present are Italian and Spanish, but all language skills are welcome.

  • Flexibility to evolve with new systems, technologies and electronic work flows we are likely to adopt.

  • Ability to work calmly, under the pressure of a real-time news environment.
