Job Description:

This role is part of the WSJ Professional Membership team, which is responsible for recruiting and retaining members of the world’s foremost influential business memberships. Position Statement:

This General Manager of WSJ Leadership Communities will be responsible for aggressively growing our suite of WSJ networks & products targeted at executive communities. This will include, but may not be limited to, our by-invitation only C-Suite networks and the executive product verticals connected with those networks.

This person will have strategic vision, excellent communication skills, and talent for managing senior level relationships. While it is critical that this position demands careful attention to our present customers needs, a significant portion of this role involves decision-making based on trends and expectations to drive future growth. They must foster a culture of collaboration, working effectively across the commercial and news divisions, as well as other groups within Dow Jones. The GM will be responsible for driving enhancements of our proposition to respond to customer needs that will ultimately improve revenue. The GM will manage a team that is responsible for driving product enhancements, fostering community amongst our networks and sales of the products.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Commercial oversight of the Leadership Communities, ensuring clear focus on the revenue and contribution of products and services provided to customers.

  • Driving growth of existing leadership communities via new sales and improving renewal rates amongst our networks

  • Improving the existing community propositions based on customer feedback and investment ROI, working with the newsroom, technology, events teams and other partners across Dow Jones, as well as external partners as appropriate

  • Identifying rules of engagement and a framework for providing communities with non-news content

  • Identifying opportunities, creating the business case and procuring investment for new leadership networks and communities

  • Building a strong and unified team who understand all opportunities within their market sector.

  • Maintaining an excellent understanding of the competitor landscape and provide clear direction to the business on where this presents risks or opportunities

  • Leading the discussions with Marketing to define the go-to-market strategy for all new or enhancements to our products and services

Knowledge/Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience managing membership products and sales targeted to professionals

  • 5+ years experience managing P&Ls

  • A strong strategist with proven business acumen

  • Sound judgement and the ability to make tough decisions

  • Excellent communication, influencing, and collaboration skills up to and including the CEO
