Our dynamic, global communications team supports Dow Jones, the global multi-platform media powerhouse that includes the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Investor’s Business Daily, Factiva, Marketwatch, and Risk & Compliance brands, among others. We’re looking for a Director of Communications, EMEA to join our global Corporate Communications team. This is a hybrid position, based in the Dow Jones London office.
About the Role:
As Director of Communications, EMEA, you will oversee external and internal communications for Dow Jones, The Wall Street Journal and Barron’s group in the EMEA region and provide strategic counsel and support to the Editor in Chief of News in EMEA. In addition, you will manage communication efforts for the company’s portfolio of conferences and events in EMEA. Working closely with executives and colleagues at all levels, you will provide counsel, develop plans and innovative tactics to ensure that all messaging is aligned internally and externally.
A strong interest in news and current events is a must.
Exceptional written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to cut through ambiguous requirements to generate clear, concise communications.
Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to implement sound judgment.
Proven track record of creating effective, innovative communications across multiple channels.
Outstanding organizational and project management skills; ability to execute with speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
Executive presence and ease in working effectively and forming relationships with senior members of an organization.
A strategic thinker and master juggler who thrives in a fast-paced environment and working across a number of internal stakeholders.
Experience in crisis communications.
Be a key contributor of content for all our internal communication channels (i.e., executive emails, all-hands meetings, intranet and newsletters).
Work with senior executives to develop their communications, including written materials, presentations and talking points.
Think, plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously and work with colleagues globally in a fast-paced environment.
Develop, deliver and target messaging to a broad audience, demonstrating an enthusiasm for creative, meaningful channel implementation.
Work closely with The Wall Street Journal and Barron's Group newsrooms to promote breaking news and investigative reporting to an external audience through broadcast bookings, including TV, radio, podcasts and streaming outlets.
Provide communications support to our high-profile conferences and events in the EMEA region, including securing reporter attendance, managing an on-site press room (when necessary) and compiling coverage reports.
Bachelor’s degree in English or Communications
7-10 years of professional experience in a strategic internal communications role
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Experience crafting pitches and securing coverage in various media outlets, including: Media trade publications, TV, radio, podcasts and on streaming services.
Crisis communications and issues management
Experience in partnering across large, highly collaborative internal teams
