The Wall Street Journal is seeking a London-based digital audio host and producer for its podcasting team. Reporting to the Executive Producer, International, the Host Producer will work with newsroom reporters and Editors, as well as video colleagues, to produce and host daily news briefs and subject-specific podcasts. Top candidates for this position will have a professional background in audio journalism, top-notch on-air presentation and writing skills, and have strong experience working in the studio and the field.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Hosting and producing daily news briefs and subject-specific podcasts.

  • Researching topics of interest to the Wall Street Journal’s audience.

  • Sourcing timely news and archival audio.

  • Recording studio and field interviews.

  • Editing clips and briefs, and mixing full episodes.

  • Booking interview guests, as well as planning and executing remote interviews.

  • Partnering with news reporters and editors to share their reporting in audio form.

  • Conducting audio interviews with reporters and editors in New York, Hong Kong, and other international offices.

  • Proposing new and original ideas for timely and relevant programming.

  • Managing multiple projects in various stages of production.

  • Fact-checking and ensuring that all journalistic and legal standards are followed.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, sometimes late and weekends both as part of a regular weekend rotation and as news developments may warrant.

  • Completing additional duties as assigned

Key skills: Essentials

  • Ability to convey news and tell business and markets stories in creative ways.

  • Demonstrated and proven experience working on newsy and narrative podcasts.

  • Track record of hosting and producing quality audio content efficiently under tight deadline constraints.

  • Knowledge of current events, U.S. and world politics, economics, and a nose for news.

  • Adept with operating studio boards as well as field equipment.

  • Clear communicator with exceptional written and collaboration skills.


  • Professional-level understanding of Adobe Audition and Pro Tools software.

  • Master's in Business Administration and/or a Master's in Journalism, ideally both.


  • Extensive experience serving as an audio host and/or producer in a daily news environment, preferably at a top-tier news organization.
