AR / VR - Spatial Technology Engineer (Contingent Worker Assignment)

Job Description

Dow Jones is looking for creative and passionate AR/VR Spatial Technology Engineer with experience in both IOS and Android environments as well as WebXR development, comfortable developing in Unity and Unreal Engine. This role is for someone self-driven that wants to be a core part of a new immersive gaming team within Dow Jones Events to support our brands in creating MVP’s of highly engaging and innovative online, hybrid and in-person experiences. You would play a critical role in technical decision making at all stages of the product life cycle.

Responsibilities

• As part of a cross-functional innovation team, you will design, implement, and maintain AR / VR and WebXR applications in a highly collaborative and international environment.

• Participate in discussions about technology, infrastructure and consider the pros/cons of a technology choice based on business value, scalability, maintainability, performance and project delivery.

• Support Dow Jones technical cultural values of driving toward solutions independently, while seeking feedback when appropriate,

• Help prepare hands-on workshops to share knowledge and help teams understand new technologies.

• Maintain and share knowledge in emerging technologies and tools within the industry.

• Prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.

• Continuous upskilling of knowledge base to enable ability to take projects from development to live hosting

• Assessing feasibility of technology solutions and preparing UX flows to meet briefs

• Creation of demos and promotional experiences to showcase concepts

• Adhering to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget

• Working within a team to develop projects to required specifications

• Analyzing and resolving technical problems while assisting in the collection and documentation of feedback and requirements for MVPs iterations

Essential Experience

• Minimum of 2 years software development experience creating AR / VR / WebXR applications

• Proficiency in Swift or Objective-C

• Experience creating 3D graphics and animations

• Experience working on developer-facing frameworks OR experience working with UI frameworks in customer-facing applications

• Attention to detail, creativity, passion, and excellent communication and collaboration skills

• Experience of web based technologies including Javascript,, JSON, HTML, CSS

• Experience of Git/GitHub

• Knowledge of testing suites

Preferred Experience

• Experience on Play to Earn tokenisation (P2E GameFi)

• WebXR experience accessible on desktop, mobile and VR headsets

• Experience with WebAR frameworks and tools tools e.g. AR.js

• Broad exposure to UI frameworks (CoreAnimation, UIKit, AppKit, React, etc.)

• Solid understanding of UX/design patterns

• Ability to storyboard ideas and create UX flows

• Experience with CLI scripting and Github

• Experience working with web APIs

• Good understanding of cross-browser and cross-device testing

• Experience with 3D modeling tools and paradigms e.g. Blender, Maya, GLTF

• Strong understanding of web and software development processes

• Ability to code e.g. JavaScript, C, C++
