The Director of Communications will oversee internal communications and media relations for Dow Jones in the Asia-Pacific region, based in Singapore or Hong Kong. Reporting to the Chief Communications Offic, based in New York. This is both a strategic and executional role, responsible for driving regional awareness for The Wall Street Journal franchise, Barron’s Group and Dow Jones’s suite of Business-to-Business (B2B) products, including Factiva, Risk & Compliance, and Dow Jones Newswires. The Director will also work locally alongside the company’s APAC Advisor to the CEO, to drive communications in support of Dow Jones activities around the region and build internal engagement.
The Director will develop a close working relationship with the Editor, Asia of The Wall Street Journal and be an advisor on a broad range of communications issues, particularly in support of the WSJ’s robust reporting of Asia’s corporates and governments. The Director will support other Dow Jones and WSJ editors and journalists in APAC as and when required.
The successful candidate will be well-versed in the broader digital media and technology landscape as well as B2B communications. There should be a demonstrated record of success in driving product launches, thought leadership initiatives and crisis communication. The Director will manage and have the support of a PR agency.
The Director will provide communications support in the implementation of key events including WSJ CEO Council, TechLive Asia, WSJ D.Live, and Dow Jones Risk & Compliance events in Asia. The Director will be expected to contribute to daily news monitoring efforts and also provide support during regional visits by senior DJ executives.
Key skills and requirements:
Minimum 8 to 10 years professional experience in B2B, media and/or mobile/technology, developing and implementing impactful campaigns
Experience working pan-regionally in Asia
Strong working knowledge of top-tier conferences and speaking engagements
Experience in partnering across large, highly collaborative internal teams
Fluency across social media channels
Strong writing and editing skills are a must.
