About the Role

OPIS is looking for an experienced and hands-on, Sr Principal Software Engineering Manager, located in our Gdansk, Poland office, leading our Chemical Market Analytics Product Technology division. Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, you will be a leader, responsible for offering better technical and architectural direction across multiple Agile development teams.

You Will:

  • Manage, mentor and coach a group of software developers, guiding career paths and growth

  • Ensure our technical architecture and development practices align with immediate and long-term business goals and strategy

  • Maintain an understanding of new architecture concepts, methods and trends

  • Promote new technology research, evaluation and implementation

  • Provide expertise in technology direction and services, advocating industry standards adoption to organization best practices

  • Occasionally perform code reviews

  • Advocate for the appropriate use of technology and provide leadership in balancing technical elegance with functional requirements and practical benefits, as we implement and integrate technologies

  • Regularly contribute code and design to new and existing solutions

  • Leverage, maintain and improve automation and pipelines (continuous integration and deployment)

  • Promote knowledge sharing and reusability across product-development teams

  • Gain insight and act to influence business and technical partners

  • Track and communicate team progress and team status to the stakeholders

You Have:

  • 10 or more years of increasing responsibility in technical roles, with 4 or more years of experience managing development teams

  • Can code in either .NET, .NET Core or JavaScript as some ad-hoc code review may be required in the early stages

  • Existing experience with container runtimes and container management systems such as Docker or Kubernetes

  • work Work with a wide variety of programming languages

  • Real-world experience providing technical leadership on Agile software development projects

  • Experience in microservice architecture and development, including REST-based APIs.

  • Experience with software for high-volume data ingestion using technologies such as Snowflake, Kinesis and Redis

  • Experience in full life cycle development, deployment and iteration of powerful analytical apps

  • Cloud experience with deploying and integrating cloud-native applications

  • Effective communication skills that bring multiple personalities, cultures, and roles together to work towards a common goal

  • Ability to communicate ideas verbally and written to promote adoption across business and development teams
