The Wall Street Journal is seeking a reporter to cover NATO and European Security, based in Brussels.
The reporter will cover one of the biggest geopolitical stories of our day - the return of the Cold War – and all related tensions. Central topics include trans-Atlantic defense and strategic relations, military issues in Europe and its neighborhood, and NATO/European security missions as far afield as Afghanistan and the Indian Ocean.
Integral and parallel to all this Europe’s other major security threat, terrorism. The reporter will help cover international agencies such as Europol and liaise with national terrorism reporters. Other topics on the beat include European military procurement, internal security, and global organizations including the international chemical-weapons watchdog.
The reporter will work closely with colleagues in Washington, Moscow and across EMEA. Candidates should have a strong track record of breaking news and crafting enterprise features. Fluency in a major European language and experience covering defense/security issues are assets.
