About the Role:

Dow Jones is on a journey to take our products to the next level and we need you to assist in making that happen. The program management team is key to ensuring that our deliverables are executed as efficiently as possible. They are also our cultural backbone, team mentor, and give life to the organization.

As a Sr Program Manager on the Digital Experience team within Dow Jones, you will lead the delivery of a digital news teams focused on providing personalized products to Dow Jones subscribers. You will also assist with agile coaching, with a focus on Scrum or Kanban. Partnering with cross-functional teams to manage any projects or programs that are a part of your portfolio, eliminate roadblocks, manage expectations, and risk. Managing resource forecasting, trend analysis, and financial reporting. Communicating milestones, team progress, and financial status.

You will:

Working within cross-functional development teams, reporting to the VP of Project Management, you will have the opportunity to assist with defining program excellence. You will manage the execution of critical data science programs whilst ensuring the highest level of code quality. Your prior experience working in a development environment delivering programs and new features will aid you when joining a team that is already making a significant impact across the business.

  • Ensure the delivery by:

  • Managing multiple projects, programs and teams as needed

  • Driving the definition, design and delivery of key initiatives

  • Coaching the teams to deliver iteratively and with high quality

  • Participating in short and long-term planning for the product line

  • Leading one or more enterprise initiatives based largely on scrum teams

  • Resolve impediments, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions

  • Provide coaching to project managers on team management in order to maximize program delivery, and provide guidance on how to better deliver value to our customer base

  • You will drive for results, learn to identify operational improvements, and contribute to a culture of customer service

  • Ensuring external project dependencies are properly tracked

  • Communicating and reporting status at appropriate frequency and details for each stakeholder

  • Assist with technical feasibility, implementation approach, deployment strategies, and QA efforts

  • Serve the Team by:

  • Drive agile ceremonies

  • Helping them to construct solid working agreements, guidelines and drive process adherence and improvement

  • Optimizing productivity and driving team accountability

  • Partnering with the product owner on scope, backlog grooming, stakeholder communications, etc

  • Collaboratively defining, documenting, and driving agile adoption

  • Foster cross-team coordination and communication

  • Motivating, empowering, and improving the team

  • Know and understand the project:

  • Gain a detailed understanding of the products, tools, and practices of the teams

  • Knowledge of the technical and business context of the project including related services

  • Demonstrable understanding of your product domain and immediate surrounding areas, be able to and confident of discussing this with PMO team members.

You Have:

  • Preferred a Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university

  • At least 10+ years of experience managing programs and teams at various levels of maturity

  • Demonstrate progressively responsible experience / technical expertise in systems/software including managing multiple projects and teams on large-scale programs

  • Excellent team management skills and detailed understanding of product and systems integration issues

  • Some applied knowledge of the media industry, software development, web technologies, and user engagement platforms

  • Proven ability to produce high levels of customer/stakeholder satisfaction

  • Basic media industry knowledge including industry drivers, key players, trends, business processes, and third-party service providers

  • Ability to prepare resource and time estimates with a good degree of reliability

  • Strong presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong strategic interactions skills with senior-level stakeholders

  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building experience

  • Agile certification (CSM/PSM, PMI-ACP, PMP, SAFe, etc)

  • Expert user of Jira/Confluence
